Born in Collonges-la-Rouge in 1937, René Boutang, as a child, spends much of his time  drawing and coloring. He is a student at the Lycée Cabanis in Brive la Gaillarde.   He seeks early on to live his passions, focusing on the difference, the light, the height, the debate, the others … After a few aeronautical feats (to escape the awful Algerian “war”), he becomes a teacher, then an inspector hors classe of the famed Paris Academy, to meet his own needs. He works in different secondary schools in the Academy of Versailles and Paris. The Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) in Saclay, the Ecole Normale, the Rectorates of  Versailles and Paris-Sorbonne, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris , l’Iesa, le Chear … These culturally diverse workplaces constitute his favourite inspiring places.  He is among other things in charge of a variety of Art educational and career paths, he is directly in touch with teachers, artists, art craftsmen, administrative staff, military personnel, business owners, managers, in order to facilitate the understanding and communication of knowledge as well as access to knowledge, to promote the know-how…  while maintaining a listening watch, a sharp sense of responsibility and human contact… A strong desire to act and dare.

President or jury member, he places particular emphasis on creativity and originality. He strongly believes in effort and autonomy with respect for others and for our country’s spirit and values. His educational assignments in the French overseas departments give him a touch of colour and spice. It is true that Laxmy is of Indian origin. René Boutang is Director of Training in the National Distance Learning Centre (CNED) and prepares trainees for the bachelor’s degree of draughtsman/illustrator. Developed with a team of teachers, he creates and manages the multidisciplinary courses. Continually combining family and professional life, he can pride himself of having given and  taken courses throughout his entire career. He could benefit from the social ladder thanks to his work. Nothing surprising in that he created, with the support of his muse, the School of Collonges – René Boutang‘s Paint Shop in the house where he was born.

Everybody knows that for an artist, nothing is possible without his muse.
Laxmy made it possible. She adds colours to the clouds !
